The Cottage, a charming private guest house which was once a creamery for the original dairy farm, has a bedroom, a small sitting room with a refrigerator and coffee maker, and a bathroom. The bedroom opens onto a garden patio, surrounded by flowers, where guests can enjoy a gourmet breakfast. The Cottage features antique furniture and original paintings by local artists.

The large and luxurious Hay Loft suite is located upstairs in the main house, a grand structure that began its life in 1921 as a dairy barn for prize cattle. Created from the former hay loft, the suite features contemporary comforts while retaining charming elements of its rustic origins. The Hay Loft features a king size bed, sitting and dining areas, a flat screen TV (hidden discreetly behind a curtain), a small fully-equipped kitchen and an ensuite four piece bathroom with a claw foot tub, separate shower and heated stone floor. Above, in the loft within the loft, a daybed provides additional sleeping, while a window seat looks out over the duck pond. A private entrance to the suite leads in from an exterior porch and stairs, overlooking a beautiful courtyard.

The lovely natural setting for Penfold Farm has been enhanced by extensive flower gardens that complement the existing ponds, ancient oak trees, lawns, orchard, and heritage buildings. The various gardens bloom throughout the spring, summer and fall with dozens of rhododendrons, roses, clematis, sunflowers, dahlias and perennials.

As well as fine dining at the Quamichan Inn, only steps away, the many celebrated restaurants of the CowichanValley are within easy reach of Penfold Farm. Wine tours are a popular recreation, as are the many golf courses of the area (open year-round), while river, ocean, lakes and mountains provide opportunities for hiking, whale watching and ocean sports. The delightful shops of Old Town Duncan are 10 minutes away; the charming village of Cowichan Bay is 15 minutes away; the Theatre and famous murals of Chemainus are 20 minutes from Penfold Farm.
