Penfold Farm Bed and Breakfast

Visit one of Vancouver Island’s loveliest heritage properties. The landmark main house was built as a model dairy barn in 1921 and converted to a house in 1980.

Just recently a large hay loft area upstairs in the house was converted to a luxurious guest suite which retains charming elements of its rustic origins. The new Hay Loft features a kitchen, a 42” flat screen TV (hidden discreetly behind a curtain) and a king size bed plus a daybed in the loft within the loft. The ensuite bathroom with claw foot tub and separate shower has a heated stone floor. A private entrance leads in from an exterior porch and stairs, overlooking a beautiful courtyard.

Also available is the Cottage, a small private guest house which once was a creamery for the farm, and the Rose Room in the main house. The Cottage, with its rustic country charm, opens onto a garden patio. The cottage has a bedroom, bathroom and sitting room. The Rose Room has a private entrance from the courtyard and a private bathroom.

The Hay Loft is usually only available for a minimum of three nights; the Cottage and Rose Room on a nightly basis. Gourmet breakfasts are provided for all guests.

Penfold Farm has twice been on the Heritage House Tour and the beautiful gardens have been featured on the Cowichan Valley Garden Tour. The grounds, featuring ponds, bridges, flowers and heritage buildings have been utilized for many weddings, concerts and other events. Tours of the facilities including the main house are given, upon request, to B&B guests.

Penfold Farm, in the centre of the lovely Cowichan Valley, is the perfect place for a quiet retreat or romantic getaway, or both. An outstanding restaurant, the Quamichan Inn, is steps away and there are many other fine restaurants in the Valley, as well as excellent wineries, whale watching, ocean sports, golf courses, shops and other attractions.
